Today was Emma AND Lily's first day of school. Emma started 2nd grade and it was Lily's first day of Kindergarten.
I can't believe this day has come. MY BABY! I hate the first day. I have this feeling (for a short time)... that they are TAKING my child! It's not fair. It's too long. It's like I'm feeding them to the wolves (not really that bad though b/c the teachers are great!) Not to mention the fact that I cry 5 years before they even go to school! That's right. I cry when they are newborns BECAUSE they're going to go to kindergarten! (crazy, huh?) So, it's a huge realization on the day of how fast they grow up!
DON'T GET ME WRONG... I am grateful they are going and to finally feel like after at least 5 years I just might have a tad bit of ME time (we'll see). :) I missed these girls so much today though! I kept looking at the clock and couldn't wait to get outside and wait for them to get off the bus.
They both had a great day. Emma came home and got right to her homework. Lily was TIRED, but did not want to take a nap! While we were talking in her bed she upsettedly and sassily says, "Mom, I asked the other kids if they had to take a nap and they said, "NOOO." Then they asked me if I took naps and I had to say "YYeeSSS!" She was not happy about this fact! It cracked me up though.
She took a short nap and then we woke her up for dinner: SUSHI
It didn't go over too well. It was pretty funny to hear them talk about how disgusting it was. lol!
Don't worry..after they tried one, we made nachos.
Now our day is almost already over, and the kids are in bed. School days are too repetitive and go by too fast.
Here's to a new school year! cheers!
They got to pick out their first few outfits for school.

Emma is a the BIGGEST fan of High School Musical! When she was asking her friend Briley to guess what backpack she got, she of course knew: "high school musical!"

Lily's backpack was a steal awhile back for $2.00 at Old Navy. I love how they're about as big as they are.

what sweet sisters

I told the girls to look back on the bus so I could take a picture. yeah, didn't happen. I think Lily was just too focused on getting on. It broke our hearts this morning though. She didn't know where to sit and I think before she even sat down, the bus was moving. :(

I still can't get over how long their hair is. One year makes such a difference! Congrats on surviving. Our school starts tomorrow, but they test the kindergarteners for a WHOLE WEEK before they let them in, so Ethan is mad as heck that Grace gets to go and he doesn't.
Ronnie was so excited his first day and then a few days later he was crying, begging me to let him stay home with me. I had to leave him on the bus, him crying as it drove by me. Since then he has made friends and loves taking the bus...it pulled at my heart strings though. He doesn't get home until 4:00 so it's a long day for him. Your kids look so cute, love the outfits. Hope you guys are doing well!
They look so cute and I'm glad they like school! Hope you got some me time :)
They looked so cute on their first day...did they like it? Are you happy with their teachers?
What cute photos of the girls Koni! You'll love the free time {even if secretly} - it will be good "William" time. My boys have been so tired all week like Lily and it's KILLING me. I think I'm about done with the bad attitudes they're bringing home every day :) Good luck adjusting to having them both gone....it will get better.
Glad you made it through the first day of school! The kiddos looked really cute for the start of the new year.
