Good news...William has Pseudo-Strabismus

Do you know what that is? :)

We noticed that William's eyes looked possibly misaligned a few months ago. Family members had also noticed. To me it looked like his left eye was rolled in more than the other. So, we went and had it checked out...

Here's one of many pictures where we thought it looked like one eye is rolled in.
and another...

As it turns out, it is a FALSE APPEARANCE. He has straight eyes! hurray. "Pseudo-Strabismus is a false appearance of eye misalignment. Most often the eyes have the false appearance of turning inward. It looks this way b/c the skin fold at the inner corner of some baby's eyelids is broad and round in contour. In addition babies often have a broad flat nasal bridge. Both of these features contribute to making the baby look crossed because there is less space between the iris and the inner corner of the eyelid. Observers of the baby will often think that because there is not much white eyeball showing between the iris and the inner corner of thee eyelid, that the eye is turned in."

The doctor said that the key is to look at the reflex from the photo flash and how they are symmetrically positioned on each eye. Looking at how the points of light shine on his eyes in all these pictures it seems to always be symmetrical within the pupil, so that's good. I actually think that it's already better, but Austin says it's just because I know it's an illusion now. ?? :) At any rate.. I'm glad he doesn't have to wear bitty baby glasses (as cute as that would be)!

A few more pictures from the last few days ... the light is all symmetrical within the pupils.

and a few extras: William is getting ..umm... less fragile shall we say so that Emma is quite comfortable holding William. The last few mornings, she's came in our room before I'm really even awake and takes him in the living room to watch t.v. with her.
We all just gobble up those sweet cheeks!!!! Can you believe he'll be 5 months in just a few days (another photo op! whoo hoo :) )

Well, I had a bit of an interruption while writing this. Lily took the frosting bottles (those ones posted below) out of the fridge to her room, took off the lids, and had the bottle and lids behind her bed! LOVELY!!!!!! It's taken care of now, but oh my goodness! It is late (11:20 p.m.)... they really wanted to stay up for Austin to get home, but after that, no siree!

Austin should be home pretty soon. On Christmas morning, Austin's sister Kayti called and told us that (because of illnesses in her fiance's family and Mom & Steve already being there) she was getting MARRIED on Saturday! WHOA FAST! I was so excited to go...we don't have a lot going on with Austin out of school for a few more weeks, and gas is pretty cheap. But, Austin decided he'd skip the 23 hour drive each way and fly with his brother. I know that they had GREAT sibling time together, but I would have liked to have at least been a fly on the wall to see her (and yes, I would have liked to have taken pictures of it all)! :) Hopefully, they got some. She's gorgeous... I would have loved to have seen her in her wedding dress she got and seen her get married. :( I heard it was lovely and touching! So, that is why Austin has been gone the last few days and is about to come home at midnight tonight! We missed him! In fact, he just walked in the door. More later! :)

Your kids are so adorable and can I just say I love your photos! It brightened my morning to see all these adorable smiles and heart melting eyes! My all time favorite is for sure the "jealous shepherd!" That Nativity Scene occurance definately rang true at our Christmas Eve too!
