Being a photographer, I love to look at other photographer's work. One of my very favorites is www.bluelilyphotography.com. Last year, she took the Nielson's pictures and through her website I found out that they were tragically in a plane crash that exploded on impact. However, they survived! She was in a coma for 3 months. She is burned probably about 80% of her body and her husband is burned 30% of his body. They have 4 kids. I have been reading her blog for months.
A few days ago I was watching Oprah (also one of my favorites) and saw that they were going to be on. I was SOOOO excited!
I can't stop thinking about her. I feel changed. She has uplifted me for sure and made me see things with new perspective and to not take the little things of being a mother for granted. It's a BLESSING to be able to wake up and help get the kids ready, make their breakfast, lunch, and dinner, to give them baths, get dressed, brush their teeth, their hair, help them with their homework, do their laundry, to be home when they get home from school, read to them, provide for them, color with them, play with them, the list goes on and on. But, oh the BLESSING to BE a Mom and to do all the things that we do for our kids! She fought hard so that she would be the one who would be making her kid's peanut butter sandwiches for lunch! Now, it's much harder for her. But, she wouldn't change it for the world. How many times to I do what I do grudgingly. ... It's these very things that she wouldn't give up to do... it's what she longed to LIVE for!
If you missed it, try and watch the whole thing. WATCH THIS clip.
and b.t.w. LOVE her wall of photos. ONE DAY!!! :)
Anyways, I'm going to be having a better attitude about all the things I HAVE (SCRATCH THAT!) to do, I mean GET to do!
I love being a Mom... this just makes me want to EMBRACE it so much more! FIND JOY IN THE JOURNEY! :)
A few random pictures of Bubba:
Sitting at a table for the first time. He's checking out his feet.
Happy Guy
He watches Sesame Street some mornings with me and likes it. Usually, I snuggle with him, but this day, I put him up to watch it.
Playing in the water table out back.
Again, watching t.v. It's nice that he'll lay for a few minutes SOMETIMES.
Bubba is a jabber box. He talks like he has something to say. The other day at Walmart, he talked and talked to this man who was in a wheelchair.
He puts everything in his mouth!
Here he is watching Elmo with blanket in hand. He likes it better up close.
Playing in the backyard.

Trying to eat rock after rock.
In the shoe basket. He empties this more than once a day and carries the shoes all around the house.
