A week ago, I would have said "I miss Iowa." Today, I'll just say "I miss my friends!" :( I miss them terribly!
My friends are busy sandbagging and preparing their homes with food, water, and supplies right now. Last night, they didn't have power, phone, or internet. They say that some of the roads may take as long as 3 months to dry up! The highway less that a mile away from where I lived is closed down as are the major freeways. The rivers are expected to get higher than they ever in history have before! Many in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids have had mandatory evacuations with nearly no time to get their belongings. To get from one side of Cedar Rapids to the other, they found a detour.. it is only 140 miles! On Wednesday, 4 boy scouts were killed and 48 were injured at boy scout camp when a tornado came flying through.
I can NOT believe it!!! look at these pics. It's SO close to home for me... these are the roads we drove on every day! It makes me very sad to see the people evacuating. I hope and pray that everyone is well and safe there! How important it is to listen to our prophet and be prepared for emergencies! You never think it's going to happen to you, but it's probably more realistic to say, you just NEVER KNOW WHEN it's going to happen to you!
sand bagging near the school
right down the street from where we lived
i can't believe how much water!

The water barely makes it under the bridge! crazy!
I hope these people can come back to their homes.

It really is crazy! We miss you guys so much too! Might as well just move back, I wish. Glad you guys are having fun... miss you.
Wow, I was wondering if you all were still there! Looks like you made it out just in time! Very sad and scary for all those affected!
We miss you guys so much! I can't believe the flood, just 1.5 miles down the road it is so deep that a car is under water! The Sonic is flooded and Walgreens on 1st Ava. Sad. However, we're ok and so are the apartments. We were blessed. It reminds me of Hurricane Katrina. We lived in New Orleans during that time and had to evacuate! Tell the girls that the kids miss them so much and I MISS hanging out with you and Jocelyn!
Always, Jenn & Family
